A garage floor takes more abuse than any other slab in the house, and it is usually the one left bare. Coating it turns raw, dusting concrete into a sealed surface that cleans up and reads like part of the house rather than the bit behind the door.
We have installed more than 14,000 garage floors since 1999. The system we fit most is 100% solids resin-based epoxy with decorative flake broadcast into it, sealed under a UV-resistant polyaspartic clear coat.
The result is seamless, hard-wearing and slip resistant, and it carries a written lifetime warranty against peeling or debonding.
Garages get a specific kind of punishment. Hot tires sit on the surface and pull at anything that is not properly bonded to the slab. Oil, brake fluid, antifreeze and road salt arrive on the car and stay there until someone deals with them.
Then there is everything else a garage is used for: dropped tools, jack stands, bike racks, workbenches, and the grit that comes off wheels and boots. Bare concrete absorbs all of it, dusts constantly, and stains for good.
A properly bonded resin floor changes that. The surface is non-porous, so fluids sit on top and wipe off, and the polyaspartic clear coat is UV resistant, which matters for the strip inside an open garage door that takes direct sun. Epoxy flooring in EasleyDecorative flake is what most Easley homeowners choose for a garage. Acrylic flake is broadcast at 50 pounds per 500 square feet and sealed under the polyaspartic clear coat. It hides imperfections in the slab, gives the floor texture underfoot, and looks clean between sweeps.
Solid color epoxy is the plainer option: one even color, hard-wearing, and a good fit where the garage is a workspace rather than something on show. Metallic epoxy moves pigment through the resin as it cures for a marbled finish with depth, which suits a garage built around the car parked in it.
Flake blends and colors can be seen and handled in person at our Taylors showroom, which is worth doing: flake reads differently on a floor than it does on a screen.
Cleaning is the change people notice first. The floor is seamless, with no joints or pores for dirt to work into, so a mop or a hose does what a scrubbing brush used to.
It handles the mechanical side too. Rolling jacks, dragged toolboxes and steady foot traffic wear the clear coat rather than the color beneath it, and the clear coat is the layer that can be refreshed later without redoing the floor.
Maintenance is low but it is not nothing: keep grit swept off, because grit under a tire is what abrades any resin floor.
Preparation is what decides whether a garage floor lasts, and it is where roll-on kits come apart. We do a full mechanical prep by diamond grinding, which opens the concrete so the resin keys into the slab instead of sitting on top of it. Our grinders run under vacuum extraction to keep dust down.
Cracks and divots are repaired before any resin goes down, and where the slab reads damp we start from a moisture-tolerant penetrating primer. The system is then built in sequence: primer, base coat, flake broadcast, and the polyaspartic clear coat over the top. The floor cures and is handed back ready to use.

See the color chartEasley sits in Pickens County about twelve miles west of Greenville, and its garages are a mixed bag. Older houses from the town's textile years often have slabs that want crack repair and a proper grind first. Newer builds along the US-123 corridor usually have sound slabs, where the choice is about color rather than repair.
Upstate summers are humid, and a garage is rarely conditioned. That is a reason to check the slab for moisture and prime accordingly rather than a reason to leave it bare: a sealed floor stops moisture moving through the slab surface, and bare concrete does not.
